Last night we went to Red Bones for a concert celebrating Alaine’s birthday. She is a reggae singer who has had some hits, although it seems she attracts an older crowd. Some younger Jamaicans I’ve talked seem to feel she is over. Not this crowd. We loved her and her genuine, energetic performance. Proceeds from the show (tickets were about $11 US) went to a music program at a primary school and a home for young women who have been abused. Alaine brought on guest: Chronixx, Sharita, Voicemail, Tarrus Riley and Dean Fraser, who has been around forever and has worked with just about every major Jamaican artist. It was an amazing night and we had front row seats.
